Dear Raymond Bassetti,
While 2020 has been an interesting year (to say the least), it’s also been one of the best years for volunteerism and people helping their neighbors. Nationwide, our volunteers have stepped up and pitched in to not only HONOR and REMEMBER our veterans, but to give back to their very own communities. Now that’s what being #AmericaStrong is all about!
In fact, this past month, Wreaths Across America hosted its first-ever Virtual Concert, drawing in support from thousands and thousands of Americans. The media attention surrounding this event was incredible! We had almost 300 stories nationwide, in 42 of the 50 states, which was such a positive impact on the mission of Wreaths Across America to REMEMBER, HONOR, and TEACH.
Karen Worcester, our Executive Director, is such an inspiration and light to us all. At our virtual concert, she declared, “THERE WILL BE A WREATHS DAY THIS YEAR!” While our veterans have so selflessly served our country 24/7, through all times of economic and political hardship, our efforts to honor and remember each one of them won’t stop either. While the Wreaths Across America ceremonies may look a bit different this year, the mission will still be completed because we are united in honoring and remembering our nation’s heroes and we are #AmericaStrong.
Just like our veterans, we are adaptable and can improvise! At Wreaths Across America headquarters, we are actively working to create a variety of contingency plans that you can implement for your ceremony, based on your location size and that will comply with any specific county health guidelines. These plans will be shared with our Location Coordinators within the next month. In addition, our Regional Liaisons are available and ready to work closely with you as you plan forward for your Wreaths Across America ceremony this December 19th!
