Commander’s Message
Spring is just around the corner so start getting your yard tools and equipment in tip top shape. With Spring, comes the grass cutting season and lots of yard work. Pace yourself and do not attempt to do it all in one day. If by chance you have a little free time, come by the Post and help spruce up outside. Everyone would appreciate your efforts.
The Post Valentine’s Day Party was wonderful. Our Club Staff prepared a delicious beef tenderloin dinner with all the fixings. For entertainment, Amy Ladd performed a variety of country and Top 40 songs. Members danced with their sweethearts and we all had a great time.
Upcoming events I want to highlight are:
On 4 March, another VFW State of Virginia Centennial Celebration will be held at Post 1503 in Dale City. Everyone is invited to attend. The first of many was held at Post 9808 on 1 February and was a very nice ceremony and celebration.
On 12 March, Daylight Savings Time begins. Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour.
Spring comes in on 20 March. If you are like me, warmer weather will be welcomed.
Our Auxiliary will hold a Tea on 25 March. See an Auxiliary member for information.
Lastly, the Shred-It Truck will be out front of the Post on 29 April. Bring all your papers to be shred and dump them in the bin. No binders or boxes can be shredded. Let your neighbors know about this event. It’s for the community as well as members.
Please continue to work on membership. We need ALL annual members to renew now. It would be even better if they converted to Life members. Spread the word.
Come out and support your Post in any way you can. We have great meals and supporting the Club is supporting the Post. Check the calendar for what’s for dinner!
Hope to see more of you at the monthly meeting. Next meeting is 9 March when we will have nominations for the 23-24 slate of officers.
Team Veterans,
Doris Wollett
