Post 9808 started the New Year off with a bang. Members celebrated by ringing in the New Year at the Post with a party. It was well attended and there was delicious food and fun had by all.
Now, we are down to business and meeting milestones set at all levels. One of the main milestones is membership. Reach out to current annual members and remind them to renew their dues. If, by chance, they are struggling financially, let us know and the Post can assist by using the Relief Funds to pay their dues. Also encourage annual members to convert to Life Membership and Life Members to become Legacy Life Members. I am more than happy to speak with any member who may have a question or concern.
Another milestone is to increase membership. As you are out and about in the community, ask anyone that you see with some type of military attire if they belong to a VFW Post and if they are not but served in combat, tell them about our Post and encourage them to become a member. Remember we are all recruiters.
Thank you to everyone that helped with Wreaths Across America. Placing and removing the wreaths went very well. Several groups assisted us and both days had a great turnout. The 2023 campaign is open now so make your purchases early.
The Mid-Winter Conference was very successful. The highlight was the Awards Banquet where the winners of Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen winners read their essays. The 2nd and 3rd place winners were also in attendance. These young folks are very talented and smart. They are our future.
Please let me know if you plan to attend the next District 3 meeting on 4 February. We will all sit together as a united and strong Post.
Lastly, if you are able to support Liberation, let Ron Scoville know and if you can support Lonesome Dove, let Ray Dawson know. Bingo continues to need walkers to sell the Instants so let Coretta Langford know if you can help. It takes many members to keep everything going at the Post.
Stay warm and hopefully I will see you at the next meeting on 9 February before 7:30.
