November 2020 Commander’s Message
November is here which means Daylight Savings Time is here. Check all your clocks to make sure you turned them back an hour. Also, Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Hopefully, you will be able to share your lunch or dinner with family and/or friends. Tuesday, November 3rd, we will be going out to Lonesome Dove Equestrian Center to assist with a therapy session and to serve lunch to fellow Veterans. Then on Thursday, November 5th, we will be going to Liberation Veterans Services to serve dinner to Veterans that have fallen on hard times and are working towards getting back on their feet. Both events are a great opportunity to give back and you leave there feeling good. Let Quartermaster Ray Bassetti or Senior Vice Commander Doris Wollett know if you would like to help out at either outing. The Post beautification day was a flop since it rained so be on the lookout for a future date and come help if you are able. Any time you are at the Post and see weeds that need pulling, reach down and pull up a few or pick that piece of trash up. Every little bit helps! Your Post continues to host Red Cross Blood Drives and upcoming dates are November 12th, December 17th and December 29th. Donate if you are healthy and cleared. Many thanks to Comrade Ray Otto for spearheading these drives. So far this year, the Red Cross has collected 840 units of blood. Buddy Poppy Day is November 7th. Comrade Chris Mitchell has taken the lead on this effort and has sign-up sheets on the back table. Come out and help if you are able. The Post Auxiliary is having a Tea and Fashion Show on November 14th. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased from Nancy Smithson or Lola Barnette.
