Commander’s Message

Comrades,
The weather has turned cooler and it’s time to make sure you are ready for winter. Have your heat checked now. Don’t wait until it gets cold and then you find out there is a problem. Make sure your gutters stay clean and try to keep the leaves up. You may find that you need help with some things that need to be done. I know I have to get my daughter to help me out. Don’t be climbing on ladders and taking unnecessary risks.
Fall is here and with the change of weather comes lots of outside work that must be done both at our homes and here at the Post. Surgeon Wade Cole can use your help and has set up Saturday, 30 October, as a clean-up day. There is so much to do and he really needs help. There are big and little jobs to do so I feel sure there is something that will suit your ability and desire to make Post 9808 sparkle. Please set aside a few hours on the 30th to help. It will be appreciated.
The State Fair was a big success for recruiting new members. Thank you to State Commander Butch Schupska and State Membership Chairman Tom Hines for getting us 15+ new members. We certainly hope they will be active here so if you see a new face, make sure you introduce yourself and make them feel welcome.

Packing Goodies
Post Members along with the Auxiliary and a few Sea Cadets gathered in the Bingo Hall to assemble 200 boxes then fill them with goodies. Boxes were then put into larger boxes to be mailed to Troops deployed overseas. After all the boxes were packed, we went up front into the social quarters for lunch. This was a wonderful time of fellowship and we look forward to doing it again on 6 November. Come out and be a part of this outreach. Remember we are Veterans helping Veterans.
