Commander’s Message
Sisters and Brothers,
With our Commonwealth beginning to open more and more, we are able to open the post more too. The club will for the near future remain on their Tuesday through Friday lunch and dinner schedule. Eat-in or call ahead for take-out. Check our website or Facebook page weekly for the menu update. And you may always call the post to see what’s on the menu for that day.
Because of vacations and scheduled time off, I am writing this a little early this month. The August calendar may change up a little bit, but we’ll do our best to keep this edition of your newsletter as accurate as possible. Kicking off the “Dog Days of August”, our post will be hosting the Department Auxiliary SOI on August 1st. It promises to be an entire day of classes and informational meetings for Auxiliary members from across the state. This event will be occurring in the bingo hall so the attendees can safely social distance themselves but still get their business completed. We wish them all the success and a highly informative School of Instruction. On August 4th at 9:00 am, we will be going out to Lonesome Dove to deliver and serve lunch. The VA will again allow Wounded Warriors to come out for horse riding therapy so we will need volunteers to walk with the horse riders. If you’d like to help out, please see SVC Wollett. On August 6th, we will deliver dinner to Liberation Homeless Veteran’s Shelter in Richmond. If we are allowed into the building, we’ll serve up the hot chow to the residents. We always served before the COVID outbreak. With restrictions easing, maybe we can again serve dinner and fellowship with these down on their luck veteran brothers. See QM Bassetti if you’re interested in helping out. We currently have Red Cross blood drives scheduled for the 6th, 13th and 20th with the possibility of more. If you wish to donate blood, you have to call the Red Cross or go online and schedule an appointment. Walk-in’s are not allowed during the time of COVID.. Read More and view the entire newsletter.
